Kakuriyo no Yadomeshi *Bed and Breakfast for the Spirits*

Kakuriyo no Yadomeshi is a charming anime about a girl named Aoi Tsubaki who is spirited away by an Ogre god to be his bride. Aoi is shocked to discover that she is the collateral for her grandfather’s unpaid debt and must either pay back the millions he owed to the Ogre-god or submit to being his wife.

Siren’s Lament

I must review my first ever webtoon.

It’s a short one, since I don’t have a lot of time, but here we go…

Siren’s Lament is a webcomic available on webtoons.com. It’s about the interactions between Lyra, a florist with no big dreams, Shon, the sexy childhood friend™, and Ian, a siren who’s willing to do anything to be human again. Continue reading “Siren’s Lament”

Mr Love: Queen’s Choice

Today we’re going to be reviewing a new type of Otome game (at least for me).

mr-love-queens-choice-experts-guide-4

Mr Love: Queen’s Choice, also known as Love and Producer or 恋与制作人 , is a free-to-play otome game that features lots of side games, a gacha, and a very active event roster.

As you play, you interact with four love interests and bring up intimacy via texting, calling, and dates while also keeping your production company afloat. After a certain point in the game, you select a route and continue gameplay just like you would with any other otome.

Man in-game features are fully voiced, but you can choose if you want your guys speaking in Japanese or the English dub (which is not as bad as the average dub, but I recommend the Japanese). Continue reading “Mr Love: Queen’s Choice”

Saint Seiya: The Lost Canvas

Please note that this review is for the manga.

Saint Seiya: The Lost Canvas is a wonderful read for fans of action/drama.

th

Saint Seiya: The Lost Canvas has a lot going for it as a series. It has the stable fan-base inherent in older series, and the perks of both good art and strong characters. The downfall of The Lost Canvas (TLC) is that most readers won’t be interested in it until after they’ve found the original series…. Continue reading “Saint Seiya: The Lost Canvas”

Ikemen Sengoku: Hideyoshi Toyotomi

Ikemen Sengoku is a historical-themed otome that takes place in the the Sengoku era. This particular game is one of many “Ikemen” otome games by Cybrid, and the first Cybrid game I ever tried. After hearing mixed reviews about the game, I decided to jump in and give it a shot myself.

Ikemen Sengoku is a time-travel romance where MC is transported to the Sengoku era.

After she unknowingly prevents the assassination of Oda Nobunaga, she is trapped in an alternate version of the past. MC can return to her time after three months, with the help of a worm-hole, but feelings tend to be a problem in Otome games, so that return trip is up in the air.

(Please note that this game is intended for older audiences. It’s neither graphic nor gratuitous, but I think the recommended age is 17+)

Rurouni Kenshin aka Samurai X

Here we go, let’s talk about Rurouni Kenshin.

51-okuNWM4L

Rurouni Kenshin is a widely beloved shounen series from the 90s. It tells the story of the wandering swordsman Kenshin Himura and his struggle to overcome his past as the man-slayer Battousai, while simultaneously protecting the innocent.

The series is set ten years into the Meji era, in a Japan that is still coming to terms with the new Westernization movement. Most of the action in the plot occurs due to people who aren’t coping well with the new Japan they find themselves in. The villain of the week is usually a survivor of the Revolution with a grudge against Kenshin, or a former warrior who can’t stand living in the overly peaceful Meji era.

La Dolce Vita di Adelaide 아델라이드

La Dolce Vita di Adelaide is a webcomic series from Chae Habin.

It’s about a girl who was reborn after a car accident into a victorian style alternate universe. She (Adelaide) winds up in a faux engagement to the highly eligible Duke Elias in an effort to save him from the unwanted advances of another woman. la dolce vita di adelaide.jpg

Adelaide is a fun story that doesn’t waste time beating around the bush. It jumps straight into the action and keeps rolling along at a steady pace without the troublesome angst sessions and random interludes that usually muck up progress. Continue reading “La Dolce Vita di Adelaide 아델라이드”

Ikemen Vampire: Leonardo Da Vinci

Ikemen Vampire is a hot-topic game for CYBIRD right now. The massively popular game is finally being translated into English, and the otome community has a new set of ikemen to drool over. The game is still very new on GooglePlay, with Leonardo Da Vinci having just been released back in June.

Please note that the game has a rating of 17+

Ikemen_vampire

Since the game isn’t fully translated/released, only three out of the possible twelve routes were available for play when I started. While I wanted to do Saint Germaine, he’s probably going to be the last route released, so I settled on Da Vinci instead. Continue reading “Ikemen Vampire: Leonardo Da Vinci”

The Pharaoh’s Concubine

Cue the drumroll, we’re jumping into another manhua review.

The Pharaoh’s Concubine (Sha yu Hai zhi Ge) is a historical drama manhua set partially in modern England and partially in Ancient Egypt, drawn by artists youshi and mishia. It’s a fun time-travelling story involving a girl named Ivy and her quest to restore Ramses II to his rightful place in history after unintentionally altering time.

After The Blue Eye of Horus, I was a little nervous about Egyptian-themed comics, but my love holds true, so I bit the bullet and jumped into this obscure series. 4 (1) Continue reading “The Pharaoh’s Concubine”
